Ever since ‘Interview with the Vampire’ I’ve been keenly interested in all things vampire and have made sure to catch each film which dealt with the folklore creatures. Some were good and others, terrible. ‘Blade’ added a cool modern twist to the folklore whilst the Francis Ford Coppola directed ‘Dracula’ – based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel – blew my mind and fuelled my interest. Whilst some vampire movies briefly touched on it, it was Coppola’s ‘Dracula’ which dealt with the Count and his history. It gave us a very slight insight into who he was as a man and why he became the creature he did. ‘Dracula Untold’ delves deeper than Coppola or Stoker ever did as it tells the story of Vlad Tepes, the man who was to become Vlad the Impailer – or Dracula. It stars Luke Evans and looks like a goodie.
Whilst I’m on the subject of vampires: The people who desecrated vampire lore by allowing them to survive in sunlight throughout ‘The Twilight Saga’, can all piss off! Shame on you.
You stay classy,
