I’m not one to beat around the bush here at The Noblest Rogue and when I get given a task – or a mission in this instance – I go all out and do my best to hash out the biggest and best. Mission 2 of the #MissionSamsung Challenge I’m participation in had two options which I had to choose from. The first was cooking up some delicious veggies by making use of the Microwave Oven’s Slim Fry function and the second was baking something – anything – using its Auto Cook function. I decided to do both. My reasoning was that I’d need to have the veggies for dinner at some stage during the week and who really needs a reason to bake some munchies? Here follows a tale of baking a really large choc chip cookie.
When it comes to baking I don’t mess around. Unless its an old family recipe, I usually buy one of the pre made mixed packets you can get at your local grocery store and for this Mission I decided on chic-chip. As one does.
I put the dry mix into a bowl and rubbed 125g butter into it. It’s a pretty easy process but can get slightly messy if you don’t keep your whit about you. After that process, I added the chocolate chips to the mix. I then grabbed a large egg from the fridge and gave it a good ol’ whisk until it was nice and frothy. I then added the egg to the dry mix and stirred it until it made a dough. I actually made the mistake of using my hands during this step, which saw most – if not all – of the dough sticking to my fingers and hands but rectified the situation by adding a little extra flour.
Once the dough was ready, I prepped the Microwave Oven’s crusty plate by giving it a healthy shot of Spray and Cook. The next step was to spread the dough across the crusty plate into the shape of a massive cookie. I couldn’t help but have a laugh. In my minds-eye, it looked as though I was a Hobbit making a real-sized cookie.
Once the massive cookie was ready to go, I turned my attention to the Microwave Oven. Two clicks of the Auto Cook Function button and eleven turns of the dial took me to the Microwave Oven’s cookie option. I popped the dough on top of the low rack inside the Microwave Oven and pushed start. After 10 minutes, a beep notified me that the process was complete. After a quick check of the cookie, I put it through a second Auto Cook session to be safe.
In a matter of 40 minutes I made a big-ass cookie and will have something to dunk into my tea and coffee for at least the next week. What’s not to like about that? The Samsung Smart Microwave Oven made the process so much simpler as there was no stress regarding what temperature to bake at and how long to bake for. It was quick, easy and fool-proof. Brilliant!
