About The Noblest Rogue

The modern-day gentleman is a complex being and The Noblest Rogue endeavours to keep him entertained and educated at all times of the day. From what he should be wearing this season to what he should be drinking to how he should be acting, the modern-day gentleman can rely on The Noblest Rogue to point him in the right direction to being the man he was meant to be.

I’ve been quiet, I know. I’ll offer no apology worth your time so I won’t even try. Those of you who’ve been following The Noblest Rogue for some time will understand and know that the last two months of every year are very hectic for me business-wise and due to me only wanting to offer you quality content on this platform, I tend to rather go silent during this time frame than offer up half-arsed pieces about bullshit blah blah blah. And the silence is set to continue for the next few weeks as I take a much needed break away from all things which require a plug and charger. It’s that special time of year in Cape Town when the beach beckons and the soul responds and I dare not suppress the need to have the sand between my toes and the sun on my back.

We as men know all too well how tough it truly is to represent ourselves in this day and age. There are so many demands placed on us and with the dog-eat-dog nature of our ever changing worlds sees us as men constantly being subjected to various assumptions and expectations. The truth is that at times it can be tough to stay true to oneself. The key is to hold onto what you believe in and to never falter from those beliefs, lest you be called a hypocrite. Below I follow on from a previous post which dealt with traits and values that every man should strive to embody. Check out the first post – here – and then read the below.

It has been awhile since a movie has held this much potential in my eyes. Most of what has been on the local circuit in recent months has been absolute trash whilst those which have been worth the time, I’ve managed to miss. Somehow I don’t think that I’ll be missing this one, despite living by the mantra that you should never judge a book movie by its cover trailer. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson – who also directed ‘Boogie Nights’, ‘Magnolia’ and ‘There Will Be Blood’‘Inherent Vice’ tells the story of a 1970’s private eye in Los Angeles who investigates the disappearance of a former girlfriend. The cast is about as shit-hot as you’ll find in Hollywood with the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro and Eric Roberts set to keep you entertained throughout. Yes, I just said Eric Roberts.

If you were to look out your office window, you may not be convinced that summer has arrived but it’s official, summer is here. I mean when 2oceansvibe declares summer open (here), it’s official and all we Cape Town minions better obey. So out with the winter gear and in with the summer kit. We had a look at Country Road’s Spring Collection a while back, which involved various shades of blue, white and teal, and it seems like this trend is set to continue throughout the summer with the tones being somewhat washed out with the odd faded red item thrown in the mix. Check out their latest Summer Collection below.

You’ve got to hand it to ol’ Matty. He’s upped his game in recent years and moved beyond the blonde-haired, blue-eyed bugger with the southern drawl that had chicks weak at the knees the world over. Whilst he may still possesses this power over the women of the world, he’s recently taken on roles which have required him to do more than simply take his shirt off and smile. His brief cameo in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ was worthy of an Oscar alone, whilst his performance in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ was incredible and saw him scoop an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. How then is it possible that Matty went from winning an Oscar to acting in a trio of Lincoln adverts? Sure it’s an easy gig but really? Matt sits there and drawls on about some spaced out opinions on why we are here and how long he’s been driving a Lincoln for blah blah blah. Fuck me, at one stage there is even a live bull thrown in the mix. It wasn’t long before someone decided that enough was enough. Thankfully that someone was Jim Carrey. This is pure genius!
