I love stumbling upon little gems of acoustic pleasure such as this. Plush is one of my favourite South African bands – find out why here – and I often find myself searching for their live performances on YouTube. I’ve got all their albums and know them word for word so when I discover something like this, I’m stoked! Especially cause it’s live. I’m having a pretty chilled out week and I’m pretty keen to keep those chilled vibes going. Plug in those earphones, turn this one up and enjoy it with me.

LOCAL MUSO BLAIR TABERER-ROYALS (LORDE COVER)

Blair Taberer is a solo musician who is making a great name for himself on the local scene. His style infuses folk and indie music thanks to loop pedals which allow his unique style of acoustic playing to blend percussion and string slaps with acoustic and melodic guitar effects. I’m a fan of someone who jams on a guitar rather than scratches away on a deck. Take nothing away from the latter, however, both require a degree of skill. I’m just wired to enjoy a guitar over a beat. With that in mind, Blair and his music is right up my alley as he is all natural and somewhat unassuming on his guit. Blair includes original interpretations of popular cover songs as well as his own songs and can be found entertaining the crowds at your local market, festival or restaurant.
