We as men know all too well how tough it truly is to represent ourselves in this day and age. There are so many demands placed on us and with the dog-eat-dog nature of our ever changing worlds sees us as men constantly being subjected to various assumptions and expectations. The truth is that at times it can be tough to stay true to oneself. The key is to hold onto what you believe in and to never falter from those beliefs, lest you be called a hypocrite. If you were to look out your office window, you may not be convinced that summer has arrived but it’s official, summer is here. I mean when 2oceansvibe declares summer open (here), it’s official and all we Cape Town minions better obey. So out with the winter gear and in with the summer kit. For the most of us, the standard office attire consists of 1x chino, 1x shirt and 1x pair of leather shoe and 1x leather belt and for the most part, this setup is accepted as ok. As mentioned in a previous post, it is of little importance how much money you spend on a suit if it doesn’t fit you. I cannot stress this enough. I see so many men walking the streets of Cape Town wearing store-bought suits which simply do not fit them. It’s almost laughable and defeats the purpose of wearing the suit completely. Whilst getting a suit made for yourself may seem daunting, it is a process which we all need to undertake at some stage and the more you know about the do’s and don’t’s, the easier the process will seem. Ageing. It’s a motherfucker and a natural progression we men go through. As we age, shit changes. We pick up a belly somewhere along the way and the hair on our head migrates to our back and there’s no point complaining about it. The hard part is dealing with the fact that this process has decided to come knocking on your door because in our own mind we’re going to be Superman for the rest of our lives.
