We as men know all too well how tough it truly is to represent ourselves in this day and age. There are so many demands placed on us and with the dog-eat-dog nature of our ever changing worlds sees us as men constantly being subjected to various assumptions and expectations. The truth is that at times it can be tough to stay true to oneself. The key is to hold onto what you believe in and to never falter from those beliefs, lest you be called a hypocrite. It’s not easy being a man in this day and age, what with our generation being as demanding and competitive as it is. In a world which is constantly changing, we as men are constantly subjected to various assumptions and expectations and at times it can be tough to stay true to oneself through it all. Whilst some traits – or values – have been lost to men over the generations, there are those which we should always strive to embody, regardless of time and age.
The days of acting like a hooligan at a bar are behind us. That sort of behaviour should have died when you left varsity. If you, however, are still at varsity, then by all means misbehave but heed these words once you’ve left. You will at some stage leave behind the Terrace’s, Tiger Tiger’s and Shack’s of this world for something with a level of class which will require you to portray a level of civility. Such is life.
