If you were to look out your office window, you may not be convinced that summer has arrived but it’s official, summer is here. I mean when 2oceansvibe declares summer open (here), it’s official and all we Cape Town minions better obey. So out with the winter gear and in with the summer kit. We had a look at Country Road’s Spring Collection a while back, which involved various shades of blue, white and teal, and it seems like this trend is set to continue throughout the summer with the tones being somewhat washed out with the odd faded red item thrown in the mix. Check out their latest Summer Collection below.
For the most of us, the standard office attire consists of 1x chino, 1x shirt and 1x pair of leather shoe and 1x leather belt and for the most part, this setup is accepted as ok. My question at this early juncture is are you content with simply being ok? Fuck no? You might not think it, but what you wear to the office makes an impression and tells a tale of how you carry yourself. Smartening up your office attire may well see you receive more responsibility and garner greater levels of respect from your colleague which will see that promotion get offered to you rather than Steve. Here are a few tips. Continue reading
As mentioned in a previous post, it is of little importance how much money you spend on a suit if it doesn’t fit you. I cannot stress this enough. I see so many men walking the streets of Cape Town wearing store-bought suits which simply do not fit them. It’s almost laughable and defeats the purpose of wearing the suit completely. Whilst getting a suit made for yourself may seem daunting, it is a process which we all need to undertake at some stage and the more you know about the do’s and don’t’s, the easier the process will seem. Following on from the previous post mentioned above, here are 5 more tips to ensure that you get the best tailored suit possible.
Following on from last week’s look at the Country Road Spring Collection (here), here is what Trenery have to offer this spring. Trenery offer collections which are sophisticated, modern in approach and timeless in style. Their clothes have an easy elegance. It’s in the flattering cut and the subtle details, the colour palette and the luxe fabrications. Combined, these elements give the collections an incomparable measure of quality and Trenery is my first port of call when looking for everyday business attire with a touch of understated style. Check out their Spring Collection.
Not only was it Cary Grant’s sporty-yet-elegant style which gave him an edge over the other leading men of his day but it was his faultless attention to detail which gave him the edge. A classic Grant ensemble would include either a blue or grey double-breasted suit, a pocket square, a sober tie and a buttonhole and for it’s day this was considered to be ‘understated’. What’s interesting to note about Grant’s style is that it was so revered that one Richard Torregrossa compiled an entire book devoted to it. Incredible! Why wouldn’t you devote an entire book to a man who looked like he belonged in stylish clothes?
Well done everyone, we’ve almost made it through another winter and with the cold-season drawing to a close it’s time to start getting our act together on the clothing front for summer. Out go the coats, scarves and waistcoats and in come the boardies, y-necks and linen shirts. It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Country Road and on any given day have the potential to be dressed entirely in their kit. There is no better way to kick your spring shake-up off with a look at Country Road’s Spring Collection. Continue reading
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has come a long way since being that awkward, quirky kid who-was-actually-an-alien in ‘3rd Rock From The Sun’. He upped his game when he starred in blockbusters such as ‘Inception’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and I’m certainly looking forward to seeing him in ‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’, which is currently on the movie circuit. What Joseph has also upped in recent times is his style. Perhaps not at the top of the Most Stylish Men list and with a way to go before he reaches the style heights of James Dean and Nick Wooster, there is still a lot to be said for the simple understated style which Joseph throws out there.
