This week we’re going to an time when there just wasn’t enough hairspray and ballads were the name of the game. This song needs absolutely no introduction, however, if you weren’t aware, ‘Don’t Stop Believin” by Journey has been described by some as the “perfect rock song” with an “anthem” featuring “one of the best opening keyboard riffs in rock.” I’m sold. We’ve all been throwing back to pictures of when we were younger versions of ourselves, which is great and all, but let’s throwback to something meaningful which doesn’t involve us punting ourselves. Let’s move on swiftly before you pick up the irony in that statement. Music drives my soul and considering I’m an old soul, music from bygone era’s seems to hit me more than most. ‘The Weight’ by The Band is as huge a musical throwback as you get. Listed as #41 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, ‘The Weight’ is considered by most as one of the building blocks of modern-day ‘Murican rock and popular music.
