As mentioned in a previous post, it is of little importance how much money you spend on a suit if it doesn’t fit you. I cannot stress this enough. I see so many men walking the streets of Cape Town wearing store-bought suits which simply do not fit them. It’s almost laughable and defeats the purpose of wearing the suit completely. Whilst getting a suit made for yourself may seem daunting, it is a process which we all need to undertake at some stage and the more you know about the do’s and don’t’s, the easier the process will seem. Twice a year GQ release a Style Edition magazine which I consider to be a form of style-bible. In the mag, the fellas at GQ deal with everything from suits to watches to etiquette to casual wear and it’s everything I want as a conscious gentleman. It’s important to remember that all shoes cannot be treated the same. A leather brogue should be cared for differently to a canvas sneaker, for instance and that buying a nice pair of shoes is only the beginning. You’d think that growing a beard is as simple as not shaving. Whilst that is technically correct, there are of course a few rules and/or tips which you can abide by to help you get your face-fuzz looking at its best. The last thing you want is to come across as a sloppy weirdo or dare I say it, bergie, due to poorly groomed facial hair.
